I WISH ALL THESE INDESPENSABLE BANKERS WOULD LEAVE LONDON (AS IF)

The current right-wing furore about taxing bankers' bonuses demonstrates naked class interest. The shambolic London Mayor, Boris Johnson bleats on about how bankers may leave London in their droves is merely responding to the siren calls of the City of London. As if places like Frankfurt (High tax) and Geneva (high boredom threshold) are beacons of cosmopolitan culture and thriving nightlife.

Bankers who leave the UK should be driven to the airport at the taxpayers' expense (if any really want to); because the one truth in all of this fuss about bankers' bonuses is that none of them are indispensable. If one leaves/retires/is sacked etc etc he/she is easily replaceable. There is not some magic gene pool of talent that is capable of understanding high finance, it is not rocket science.

Bankers are dispensable. The right-wing media in the UK seem to have (unsurprisingly) fallen for the PR con-trick that senior investment bankers are, as they were once named 'masters of the Universe'. The only thing these rapacious capitalists are masters of, is naked greed.

The graveyards are full of indispensable people. If anybody bleats about bonuses and threatens to leave, lets drive them to the airport.
